H.E.R. Steals the 'Focus' at BET Awards 2018 & Teams With Daniel Caesar for 'Best Part'

H.E.R. often shuns the spotlight, so it was a pleasant surprise to have the "Focus" placed directly on the enigmatic R&B singer at Sunday's (June 24) 2018 BET Awards.

She kicked off her set on a stage shrouded in smoke with the song "Focus," for a perfectly simple performance that put all the attention on her flawless vocals. She then grabbed the electric guitar to have her very own Prince moment, shredding as the blue light shone around her through the smoke.

And that wasn't all: She also enlisted fellow R&B standout Daniel Caesar for their duet "Best Part." The pair traded verses on an apartment stoop while Caesar took over on guitar duties.

Her sunglasses might have hidden her eyes on Sunday night, but the impressive performance should make it hard for her to hide much longer. In April, the 20-year-old Vallejo, California-based singer made her Billboard Hot 100 debut with "Focus," from her self-titled debut album, which arrived in October 2017.

Caesar's debut album, Freudian -- which was released in August 2017 -- included "Best Part" as well as his breakthrough hit "Get You," featuring Kali Uchis. "Get You" marked Caesar's first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, when it debuted on the chart in February.
