Barbra Streisand, legend of stage, screen and music, presented the final award of the night at the 2018 Golden Globes -- but before she announced the winner for best motion picture, she took a moment to chide entrenched industry sexism as well as applaud some of the baby steps it’s taking to rectify that.
“I’m the only woman to get the best director award (at the Golden Globes),” Streisand said upon taking the stage. “That was 1984 (for Yentl), that was 34 years ago. Folks, time’s up!
“We need more women directors and more women to be nominated for best director. These are so many films out there that are so good directed by women.”
