Pink performs at the 40th American Music Awards held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Nov. 18, 2012 in Los Angeles.

In honor of the 2017 American Music Awards, Billboard is counting down the best performances from the awards show’s history. Here is no. 2.

Pink reminded everyone who watched the 2012 AMAs what a real performer looks like when she dazzled them with an acrobatic dance performance for her song "Try." The singer sets the scene as she balances on her partner's back, both of them covered in various swipes of colored pigment. She extends into a split in the air before being lowered down to the ground and beginning to sing, not missing a beat as she and the other dancer throw themselves into a powerful choreographed routine.

Even as Pink is flung around -- quite literally swinging from the chandelier after being hoisted up via a back-flip across her partner -- her voice only rings out with more passion, leaning into the dramatic setting she created on the stage. Pink easily offers an incredible display of power through each meticulously planned move, smashing down a mirror to reveal the flames that have encompassed the stage.

Pink had just released her sixth studio album The Truth About Love two months prior, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in October. She's set to return to the AMAs stage this year, opening the show with Kelly Clarkson.
