Scotty McCreery Talks Vegas Shooting, New Album 'Seasons Change' & Upcoming Wedding: Watch

Scotty McCreery took some time to speak with Billboard’s Kevan Kenney at the 53rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday (April 15), where they discussed the Las Vegas shooting, his new album Seasons Change, and his upcoming wedding.

McCreery was sporting a gold 851 pin on his lapel in honor of the 851 who were injured in the tragic shooting that happened at Route 91 Harvest music festival in October. Like many artists who were wearing 851 and 58 pins at this year's ACMs, McCreery wanted to wear it to commemorate the event, as it's something that both the country music community -- and the world -- will never forget.

“We just wanna make sure that Vegas knows that,” he says, “that the country music community and the fans know that, and I feel like it’s important to come together as a family and as one, and we just wanna remember and honor those folks.”

The American Idol season 10 winner also chats about his new LP Seasons Change, which was released last month. “It’s always pretty cool when you get a No. 1 album on Billboard, so that was pretty sweet,” he shares with a smile, “and I feel like it was exciting, a little nervous to put it out cause the record was so personal. I wrote all the songs on it, about my family, about my friends, my fiancée, but so far so good.”

You can hear more from Scotty McCreery – including talk of his upcoming wedding to fiancée Gabi Dugal – in the video above.
