Elton John's going to have to wait a bit longer continue on his Farewell to Yellow Brick Road tour. The legendary performer announced on Thursday (Sept. 16) that due to a hip injury over the summer, the dates for his European run will be postponed until 2023.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am forced to reschedule," John said in a statement shared on social media. "At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since."
The 74-year-old singer-songwriter added that despite "intensive" treatment, the pain has only gotten worse, and is making it harder and harder for him to move around. "I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications," he explained. "I will be undertaking a program of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recover and a return to full mobility without pain."
