BTS rises 2-1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated July 24), rebounding to its status as the top musical act in the U.S. for a 17th total week, as the South Korean septet's "Permission to Dance" soars in at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The single, released July 9, opens with 15.9 million U.S. streams, 1.1 million radio airplay audience impressions and 140,100 downloads sold (via its original and instrumental digital versions) in the week ending July 15, according to MRC Data.

The track marks BTS' fifth Hot 100 No. 1, after "Dynamite," "Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)" (with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo), "Life Goes On," all in 2020, and "Butter."

"Permission to Dance" replaces "Butter" (which falls to No. 7) atop the Hot 100, making BTS the first group to replace itself at No. 1 since The Black Eyed Peas in 2009. (Among all acts, Drake had last succeeded himself at the summit in 2018.)

Also fueling BTS's Artist 100 coronation is a pair of albums on the Billboard 200: Map of the Soul: 7, at No. 93, and Be, at No. 108.

Elsewhere on the Artist 100, BIA debuts at No. 73, as her single "Whole Lotta Money" debuts at No. 16 on the Hot 100. The song bows following the arrival of its remix featuring Nicki Minaj, powered by a 238% surge to 14.7 million U.S. streams in the tracking week. The song marks the first top 40 Hot 100 hit for BIA (aka Medford, Mass.-born Bianca Landrau), who previously hit the chart with the No. 46-peaking "Best on Earth," with Russ, in 2019-20.

"Money" also opens at No. 9 on Streaming Songs, giving BIA her first top 10 in her first appearance on the survey. Concurrently, her LP For Certain arrives at No. 39 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with 12,000 equivalent album units (up 255%), also marking her first visit to the chart.

Plus, The Wallflowers debut at No. 74 on the Artist 100 thanks to their new album Exit Wounds, which opens at No. 4 on Americana/Folk Albums and No. 32 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums (7,000 units). (The group, who broke through in the '90s with anthems including "One Headlight," the biggest hit in the Adult Alternative Songs chart's 25-year history, predate the Artist 100, which began in 2014.)

The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
