Grateful Dead's Bill Kreutzmann Announces '7 Walkers' Release

7 Walkers, the funk-rock collaboration between Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and Louisiana guitarist Papa Mali, has announced the Nov. 2 release date for their self-titled debut album via Response Records. "7 Walkers," which is described as an "open love letter" to New Orleans, features a guest spot by Willie Nelson on the song "King Cotton Blues" as well as songwriting from Dead lyricist Robert Hunter.

In this exclusive video, Kreutzmann and the rest of 7 Walkers talk about the making of the album and offer a preview of "King Cotton Blues":

Kreutzmann, who handled percussion in the Grateful Dead for the group's 30-year career, formed 7 Walkers with Mali in 2009, and the duo briefly toured the U.S. last spring. Their debut disc also features The Meters' George Porter Jr. and multi-instrumentalist Matt Hubbard (Fastball, Willie Nelson).

7 Walkers will kick off a fall U.S. run on Oct. 1 in Napa, Ca.
