Olivia Rodrigo Is Blown Away by 'Drivers License' Debuting At No. 1 on Billboard Charts: 'This Is Crazy'

Olivia Rodrigo "cannot believe" she has the biggest song in the world after her debut single, "Drivers License," drove straight right to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Jan. 23).

"Number one on the billboard charts. truly cannot believe this is real life. thank u thank u thank u," she wrote in a celebratory tweet while sharing Billboard's post.

She also wrote, "oh my god this is crazy," on her Instagram Story while resharing this week's Hot 100 chart that "Drivers License" co-writer and producer Dan Nigro first posted on IG.

The 17-year-old singer-songwriter holds the first single to debut at the top of the Hot 100 in 2021. And at 17 years and 11 months old, Rodrigo is one of the younger artists to top the Hot 100. Billie Eilish was 17 years, eight months and one week old when her hit "Bad Guy" reached the summit in August 2019.

With 130,060,000 streams around the world, "Drivers License" narrowly marks the highest weekly global streaming total for a song by a woman since Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" reached 130,042,000 streams (Jan. 2).

She recalled the "insane" day-to-day moments where her friends have witnessed "Drivers License" being played everywhere in an interview with Billboard that was published on Tuesday (Jan. 19).

"I’ve gotten texts from people who are going on walks, and they’ll be walking past a house that is just blasting 'Drivers License,'" she said with a laugh. "Or they’ll be driving and pull up next to a car at a stop light, and the other car will be playing 'Drivers License.' You can see all the numbers and all the No. 1 charts, but to see people in their day-to-day lives listening to this song, having it resonate with them? That’s been insane."
