Ashanti had an extra reason to celebrate when 2021 arrived. The singer, who previously revealed she had contracted COVID-19, shared in New Year's Day social media posts that she and her parents had tested negative in the final days of 2020.

"Starting off the new year Amazing and Covid free!!! Got my negative results back 2 days ago," she shared on Instagram Jan. 1.

"Feeling grateful," she added. "My parents and I got our negative results back right in time to start of the New Year healthy, happy & loved."

The artist also revealed in a Jan. 2 Instagram post that she rang in the new year at home. "This is the first time in over a decade I actually spent New Year's Eve/ The New Year at home," the "Pretty Little Thing" singer captioned a video of herself celebrating . "It has shown me that your life literally can change in the blink of an eye."

Ashanti first shared that she had tested positive for the coronavirus on Dec. 12, just two hours before she was set to battle Keyshia Cole for Verzuz. "I'm ok and not in any pain," she wrote on Instagram at the time.

Less than an hour later, the Verzuz Instagram account announced that the music event would be postponed due to her diagnosis. "We cannot put anyone at risk in the process," the statement read. "First time this has struck us so close to showtime."

The Ashanti and Keyshia Cole Verzuz battle has been rescheduled for Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. ET.
