Colbie Caillat Kicks Off '25 Days of Christmas' with New Video
As a stopgap between sophomore effort "Breakthrough" and a third album coming next spring, Colbie Caillat will help ABC Family ring in the holiday season with the official theme song to the network's "25 Days of Christmas" programming event. The video for Caillat's new track, "25 Days of Christmas," premieres tonight (Nov. 22) during ABC Family's "Holiday in Handcuffs" at 9 P.M. and will showcase the pop singer-songwriter's sunny spin on holiday songs.
"ABC Family's '25 Days of Christmas' is this huge thing that happens every year and I was honored to be a part of it," says Caillat, who was contacted about the project last summer. Filmed last September, the video features Caillat walking through a wintry forest and playing guitar in a small trailer sprinkled with Christmas lights, was recorded last September.
The singer says that, like her previously recorded Christmas track, "Mistletoe," "25 Days of Christmas" features her signature acoustic-pop style and would fit in with any of her solo albums. "It's Christmas-y, but still has my laid-back, southern California feel to it," she says.
Speaking of Caillat's solo albums, she expects to see her still-untitled next full-length hit shelves in May 2011, although a exact date has yet to be set. The singer describes her new material as "more up-tempo," and namedrops a few well-known collaborators that will appear on the disc.
"I've been working with a bunch of great writers, like Common," Caillat says. "We did a song together with Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic. And me and Kara DioGuardi wrote a song together. It's been a really fun writing process."
