Kelly Clarkson and Garth Brooks spruced up their own version of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's "Shallow" during a jam session on Tuesday (Dec. 15).

Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood released their cover of the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit from the 2018 film Star Is Born on his latest studio album Fun after someone requested they sing the duet live during a show. And in the same impromptu fashion, Brooks started strumming his guitar to what he described as "every country song and James Taylor kind of mixed" and asked Clarkson to join him. She once covered the duet on her own during a Wisconsin tour stop last year, but she jokingly rubbed it in Yearwood's face (via camera) that she finally had company this time around.

"Sorry, Trisha!" the talk-show host teased. "You're not here, and if you were here, I'd sing three-part." She later thanked Brooks for raising the key for Clarkson, who sings first soprano compared to Yearwood's alto/second soprano voice. But to avoid getting in trouble with his wife, the heavily decorated country singer locked eyes with another camera and said, "Miss Yearwood... I didn't enjoy that," before turning away and commenting, "That was fabulous!"

The two continued covering their favorite classics on The Kelly Clarkson Show by paying homage to Billy Joel's "Piano Man," which Brooks performed during his Dive Bar Tour, as well as Brooks' song "The Dance," David Allen Coe's "You Never Even Called Me by My Name" and Don McLean's 1972 Hot 100 No. 1 hit "American Pie."

Clarkson then summoned the Christmas spirit during her solo "Kellyoke" segment by performing her cover of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" (by Vince Vance & the Valiants, not the current Hot 100 chart-topping Mariah Carey hit), which she released as her own single last month.
