The all-new midweek Top 5 has something for everyone.
Veteran Irish crooner Daniel O'Donnell claims the runner-up slot on the Official Chart Update with Daniel (DMG TV).
The hitmaker has landed a Top 10 album in each of the last 29 years, the OCC reports, and Daniel should give him a remarkable 40th Top 40 album.
Meanwhile, Brit Award-nominated, Georgia-born singer Katie Melua could bag her best chart position in 13 years with Album No. 8 (BMG), new at No. 3 on the chart blast.
Derbyshire glam metal act The Struts are on track for their first Top 40 appearance with their third effort Strange Days (Interscope), new at No. 4, while Philippines-born, British indie rock artist Beabadoobee completes the midweek Top 5 with her debut album, Fake It Flowers (Dirty Hit).
Also competing for a Top 10 spot is the 70-track deluxe edition of Tom Petty’s 1994 Wildflowers album, Wildflowers & All The Rest (Warner Records), starting at No. 6, while Eagles’ Live From the Forum MMXVIII (Rhino) is at No. 7, and The National’s Matt Berninger is at No. 10 with Serpentine Prison (Concord), his debut solo album.
There’s been a positional change in the singles chart race, as Internet Money’s “Lemonade” (TenThousand Projects) takes the lead. The U.S. rap collective’s tune, featuring Gunna and Toliver, is at No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart Update, edging ahead of Headie One’s “Ain’t It Different” (Relentless) featuring AJ Tracey and Stormzy; and Miley Cyrus’ “Midnight Sky” (RCA), respectively.
Headie One’s hit briefly held top spot earlier in the week, with a margin of just 123 combined sales over “Lemonade.”
The Official U.K. Singles and Albums Charts are published late Friday.
