A Black man in Wisconsin was shot multiple times in the back by police officers on Sunday (Aug. 23) as he entered the driver's side door of an SUV. The man, identified by Wisconsin's governor as Jacob Blake, was shot in front of his three young children, aged three, five and eight.

Footage of the devastating attack on an unarmed man spread across social media, causing outcry and protests demanding justice for yet another Black individual harmed at the hands of police. Blake is currently hospitalized in serious condition.

"Tonight, Jacob Blake was shot in the back multiple times, in broad daylight," Gov. Tony Evers said in a statement, according to CNN. "While we do not have all of the details yet, what we know for certain is that he is not the first Black man or person to have been shot or injured or mercilessly killed at the hands of individuals in law enforcement."

A number of celebrities have taken to social media to express frustration over the racial injustice in the United States, and demanding the police officers responsible be held accountable for their actions.
