Dua Lipa Snares First Australian No. 1 With ‘Future Nostalgia’

Dua Lipa bags her first No. 1 album in Australia as Future Nostalgia rises 2-1 on the national chart, while The Weeknd enters an eleventh week at the summit of the singles survey with “Blinding Lights.”

Future Nostalgia makes its move in its third week, after holding second place for successive weeks behind a pair of homegrown rock albums, 5 Seconds of Summer's CALM and Violent Soho's Everything Is A-OK.

Lipa’s latest also rises 2-1 in the U.K., her first title in her homeland.

The top five is rounded out by former chart-leaders Artists Unite For Fire Fight, The Weeknd’s After Hours, 5SOS' CALM and Harry Styles’ Fine Line.

Finnish metal band Nightwish snag the week’s highest new entry with the double set Human. :II: Nature., new at No. 7. It’s their first top 10 album, and peak position, outpacing Endless Forms Most Beautiful, which hit No. 16 in April 2015.

Also new to the ARIA Albums Chart this week is Tory LanezThe New Toronto 3, which bows at No. 10 for the Canadian rapper’s career chart best. The New Toronto 3 is the follow-up to Chixtape 5 (No. 18 in November 19) and is his third title to impact the ARIA Top 50.

New York City rockers The Strokes return to the Australian albums chart with The New Abnormal, their sixth studio album and first since Comedown Machine, which went to No. 7 in April 2013. The New Abnormal starts its chart journey at No. 21.

As it enters an eleventh non-consecutive week atop the ARIA Singles Chart, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” enters some elite company. It joins compatriots Drake’s “God’s Plan” (from February 2018) and Bryan Adams’ “Everything I Do (I Do It For You)” (July 1991), and British pop outfit Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” (November 1996), all of which spent eleven weeks at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart.
