Kacey Musgraves on One World: Together At Home

Kacey Musgraves contributed a subdued, moving performance of “Rainbow” to the One World: Together At Home concert on Saturday night (Apr. 18), offering a ray of hope to help viewers get through a difficult global period.

The country-pop star gave “a sincere thank-you to all the people out there risking their lives” prior to the performance, in which she played “Rainbow” on piano as images of hand-drawn rainbows flashed across the screen. The unadorned song was punctuated with Musgraves lingering on one of its lyrical declarations: “It will all be alright.”

“Rainbow” is the final song on Musgraves’ acclaimed third album Golden Hour, which won the album of the year Grammy in 2019. The singer-songwriter followed appearances by Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney on the One World: Together At Home telecast.

The two-hour special was preceded by a six-hour livestream of additional performances on Saturday. Niall Horan, Andra Day and Kesha were among those who performed as part of One World, in support of the World Health Organization, earlier in the day.
