Fans will get a peek inside the life and times of legendary rocker Ronnie James Dio, thanks to BMG. The media company announced on Tuesday (Feb. 18) that its next film will focus on the rock icon, marking the first documentary to be fully authorized by his estate.
Helmed by Don Argott and Damian Fenton, the film is currently in production and will include never-before-seen archival footage and photos from his personal archives, as well as scenes with his closest peers, friends and family.
The film will complete Dio's unfinished autobiography, which he was working on before his untimely death from stomach cancer in 2010. His career spanned from 1950s to the 2000s serving as the frontman for some of rock’s brightest including Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven & Hell. The film will touch on everything from playing sold-out stadiums to battling illness, from his powerful voice to his gentle heart.
