There was rock and roll all night when KISS’s End of the Road World Tour dropped by the Tokyo Dome. And Japan’s KISS Army got more than they’d bargained for when local hero Yoshiki joined in.

The legendary X Japan bandleader joined the Hall of Famers during the encore of their Dec. 11 date, performing piano on the ballad “Beth,” and taking a seat behind the drums for the evening's final song, “Rock and Roll All Nite.”

Yoshiki is a KISS superfan who might not have pursued a career in music were it not for the influence of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Co.

The rockers were more than a welcome distraction during Yoshiki’s youth, during which time his father passed away unexpectedly. “KISS saved my life… Tonight, my dream will come true!” Yoshiki posted on Twitter ahead of the show.

Ahead of the final song, Stanley told the audience, “We are so honored to have him play with us.”

Yoshiki also performed with KISS at their Osaka concert at the Kyocera Dome on Tuesday (Dec. 17).
