The new music follows Collins' best country album nomination for the 2019 ARIA Awards.

Charlie Collins' career in music has been anything but dull over a decade in. After making up part of the country band Chasing Bailey and then the pop/rock act Tigertown, the Australian recently returned to her roots in the former genre, with new album Snowpine released earlier this year.

She references that musical journey on a new song, "I Don't Want to Be in a Rock Band," which Billboard is premiering exclusively today, Nov. 20.

"I Don't Want to Be in a Rock Band," written on tour with Gang of Youths, continues the breezy, country-tinged sound of Snowpine, flecked with harmonica and rootsy electric guitar, Collins symbolically leaving her past life -- the one she led in the industry for much of the decade -- behind.

"It’s been a long journey exploring different genres while fronting numerous bands," Collins tells Billboard. "During this time, I never quite felt like myself and almost resented who I was becoming -- until I decided to stop writing to fit into a certain scene, but to step out on my own and write freely, to express myself musically with what comes naturally. Still, sometimes it’s hard not to compare yourself to others. This song is about me fighting that battle and reminding myself of who I am and where my roots lie."

The Mickey Mason-directed video features Collins and her bandmates set throughout Sydney, Australia, seen through a vintage lens -- whether it's by the waterside or in the subway.

If the accolades bestowed upon Snowpine are any indication, "I Don't Want to Be in a Rock Band" should find quite its share of devotees. After all, Snowpine scored a nomination for best country album at the 2019 ARIA Awards.

Collins has an Australian headlining tour planned for this winter, kicking off Jan. 22 in her hometown of Tamworth.
