Bowen Yang loves to serve jokes as a professional comedian, and he has a bigger platform to do so because today (Sept. 12) he was announced as Saturday Night Live’s first Asian American featured cast member.

The placement is historic for both Asian and LGBTQ+ representation, according to the Los Angeles Times, but sometimes Yang thinks he represents an ex-K-pop group member from BTS.

Back in February when he appeared on 2 Dope Queens, Yang wore a striped black and silver sequined tee with regular jeans and white sneakers. “Wow Brooklyn, do we like the outfit? Yes?” he asked the audience.

“Yes, I look like I just got kicked out of a K-pop group, serving BTS reject realness,” he teased while snapping his fingers.
