During Missy Elliott's Michael Jackson Video Vanguard medley at the 2019 MTV VMAs, the icon brought out Alyson Stoner for the "Work It" portion. The dancer reprised her role on the tune, as she originally appeared as the bite-sized break-dancer in the 2002 music video.

A day later, Missy took to Twitter to shout out her video co-star 17 years later. “it’s been 17 years since we did Work IT and over the years people always ask me where is that lil girl from your video ‘Work It,’” she wrote. “so I couldn’t of done this vma performance without you there! Love you thank you so much.”

"Love you. Forever grateful," Stoner responded. "Thankful for your warmth, diligence, spirit. It’s the greatest honor to celebrate you with the world. Still geekin!!!"
