Jordin Sparks to Return to Broadway Stage for 'Waitress'

Jordin Sparks is heading back to Broadway.

The American Idol winner is joining the cast of Waitress from Sept. 16 – Oct. 27. The songstress will take on the lead role of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and tumultuous marriage.  

This isn't Sparks' first time on the Broadway stage. Back in 2010, she played Nina in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s popular musical In the Heights. “I’ve missed the Broadway stage ever since I took my final bow in In the Heights in 2010," said Sparks in a press statement. “I am so excited to be able to return to it and serve up some musical pie!”
