Billy Ray Cyrus Says Billie Eilish's 'Persistence Paid Off' Following 'Bad Guy' Hot 100 Takeover

Billie Eilish has officially snagged the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Aug. 24), as "Bad Guy" rises to the top after spending nine weeks at the runner-up rank.

The song claims the throne from Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, which stands as longest-leading Hot 100 chart-topper of all time, having reigned for 19 weeks.

"Congratulations @billieeilish Well deserved," Cyrus wrote on Twitter to support his fellow Bill(ie) upon hearing the news on Monday (Aug. 19). "Your persistence paid off. Thanks everybody. It was a hell of a ride."

Earlier in the day, Lil Nas X also congratulated the 17-year-old singer on the accomplishment. "u deserve this!!" he wrote.
