Tori Kelly FaceTimed in to Apple Music’s Beats 1 on Thursday (Aug. 1) to talk about her new single, "2 Places," out now, and her upcoming album, Inspired by True Events.

On the single, she croons, "I'm in between the two, standing still and on the run/Don't know what to do, I'm in two places at once/I feel like the moon tryna stay up for the sun/Heart is so confused 'cause it's two places at once."

"I grew up having a really close family, really tight knit and really involved in each other’s lives," she explained to Zane Lowe. "Then, getting married and starting my own family…there was a lot of stuff that on one end felt very dramatic but then on the other hand, it was like, ‘Oh, this is just growing up.’”

On her upcoming album, which drops Aug. 9, Kelly says it's incredibly personal. "Man for this album, this whole album really has a theme I think of just vulnerability and it's definitely the most vulnerable album I've ever done, the most raw," she explained. "I really just poured my whole heart and soul into it. And I wrote most of the album with a guy named Jimmy Napes and he really just held my hand through the whole process because some of the sessions felt like therapy really, and just really opening up."
