Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are reportedly mourning the loss of their dog Waldo after a tragic accident in New York City in which the Alaskan Klee Kai was struck and killed by a car.

TMZ reports that the pet was being walked by the couple's dog-walker on Manhattan's Lower East Side and was on a leash at the time of the incident but got startled by a pedestrian and broke free, running into traffic. A representative for Jonas called it "a freak accident."

Jonas and Turner brought Waldo into their family in April 2018. They also own another dog from the same litter, Porky.

According to TMZ, the pair reported the accident to police on Friday (July 26), two days after it happened, telling authorities they waited so long to file the report because they were too distraught to come forward earlier. Neither Jonas nor Turner has commented publicly about the death of Waldo yet.
