The Lumineers, "It Wasn't Easy To Be Happy For You"

The Lumineers just debuted their first music video from their upcoming EP, Junior Sparks -- a precursor to their full-length album III, out Sept. 13. Directed by Kevin Phillips (Childish Gambino, Neon Indian), "It Wasn't Easy to Be Happy for You" is set beneath gloomy skies as the video's protagonist, Junior Sparks, encounters a mystery woman who turns out to be imaginary.

"We try to speak kindly after a breakup, but sometimes the truth is a different story," lead vocalist Wes Schultz said of the song and video in a press release. "This is the introduction to Junior Sparks, through his eyes and first-love heartbreak."

III is not only an album, but a filmic narrative that details the stories of three fictional family members through separate EP "chapters." Junior Sparks will be the second of three EPs that, combined, equal the full-length album. The first chapter -- an EP titled Gloria Sparks, about Junior's grandmother -- was released this past spring.

Junior Sparks comes out Aug. 16.
