MAX Unveils Funky New Tune, 'Acid Dreams,' Featuring Felly: Listen

Mackenzie Freemire & Alex Tan

MAX knows love can feel a lot like a psychedelic trip, and he dives heart-first into these "Acid Dreams" on his sparkling new single, released on Friday (July 19).

"You're beautiful/Something like these acid dreams, acid dreams/You're something I ain't used to, girl/I'm gon' give you everything, everything," the crooner muses over some summery synths and horns.

As if gushing over his wife in the sweet lyrics weren't enough, MAX revealed to Substream Magazine that he wrote the tune right in front of her, after being inspired by their love in real time. “I knew immediately that this was a special record when I wrote my first verse instantaneously in front of my wife while she was in the room,” he said. “My partner Ryan from Party Pupils sent me this beat while I was very high on legal marijuana with my wife chilling with my dog. I was immediately inspired and wrote all of my verses right in front of her about her, which I had never done before. Definitely bring[s] me back to my funk and soul roots."

While MAX's verses swing to the romantic side, an equally infectious guest verse from breakout rapper Felly adds a more grounding comedown to his collaborator's drug-induced trip. "She plays roles, I think she corny/Get your money, girl, don't worry/Says I'm garbage, just ignores me/Wish my s--- was more Top 40," he raps.

MAX is currently wrapping up a follow-up to his 2016 album, Hell's Kitchen Angel, and he's soon embarking on a string of Intimate AF Tour dates. Listen to "Acid Dreams" below.
