Welcome to #TBT Mixtape, Billboard's series that showcases artists' very own throwback-themed playlists exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. The curated set features the artists' favorite tracks from their youth and childhood.

This week’s spin comes from Sofia Reyes. The Monterrey, Mexico-bred newcomer first got her start in the biz at age 16, when she inked a deal with indie record label BAKAB. After earning some initial buzz, the imprint joined up with Warner Latina for the release of Reyes’ debut LP Louder!, which debuted at No. 1 on the Latin Albums chart in 2017. Now certified “Platino” by the RIAA, the set includes a bevy of chart-topping earworms -- from “Muévelo" feat. Wisin, “Sólo yo" featuring Prince Royce to "Conmigo (Rest of Your Life)” and last year’s “1,2,3” featuring Jason Derulo and Latin urban artist De La Ghetto.

The 23-year-old was “very anxious” about the latter cut, which has earned syncs in campaigns for Jeep and Target and nearly half a billion views on YouTube, as it offered a “unique blend of three different genres and vibes,” according to the singer, citing its Latin, pop and urban crossover appeal. Adds De La Ghetto: “‘1,2,3' is one of those unique experiences you enjoy thoroughly. The interaction between the three of us and the exchange of ideas between Latinos and non-Latinos turned out in a very organic way.”

Since Reyes’ come-up, the Latin star has become something of an industry darling: she earned a 2017 Latin Grammy nod for “Best New Artist” and Billboard spotlighted her in a “20 Hot Latin Acts in Their 20’s” list last December. She has also inked lucrative campaigns with Pepsi, Garnier, Spectrum, Nike, and more, as well as a handful of out-of-the-box collaborations with L.A.-based electronic musician Slushii (“Never Let You Go”) and Dutch production duo Yellow Claw (“Bittersweet”).

Her latest bop “R.I.P.” arrived this March, and featured British pop star Rita Ora and Brazilian singer Anitta. The defiant anthem is meant as a plea for “an end to the forces draining our world of hope, compassion and joy,” with the enduring message to just say “R.I.P. to the B.S.” The visual, directed by Eif Rivera (DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne), has netted over 108 million views on YouTube to date.

“’R.I.P.,’ it’s not only a song, but a message that we all need to hear. We all need to be encouraged to walk away from all the bullshit that’s holding us back,” she says. “It was also incredibly empowering for me to work with these two super women. I loved that we got to mix all of our cultures up with one message that we can all agree on.”

To help kick off her next album cycle, Reyes crafted this week’s #TBT Mixtape to spotlight the most recent hits that have left their mark on the singer, featuring cuts by Mabel, ROSALIA, Karol G, C. Tangana, Bazzi, and more.

She hopes that the playlist will provide the prime soundtrack for your dance-party needs all summer long. “I imagine myself listening this playlist by myself or with my friends,” she says. “It’s a dance, beach vibes for summer 2019 to party and have a good time.”
