Beyonce, Chance the Rapper, Meghan Trainor and More Hit the Red Carpet for 'The Lion King' Premiere: See the Pics

The Lion King roared at its world premiere overnight, as the stars came out and the critics gave an immediate thumbs up.

Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book), the updated film is closely follows the storyline of Disney’s 1994 classic, only this time we’re indulged with photoreal CG animation.

The film carries some of the original Lion King songs, and stars Donald Glover (Simba), Chiwetel Eijiofor (Scar), Beyoncé (Nala), James Earle Jones (Mufasa) and others.

Based on reaction from critics, film reporters and editors, THR declared: “The film visually stuns, and emotionally hit its mark with many, if not all, audience members.”

Beyonce slayed the red carpet, as she does. And at midnight, she dropped a new song, "Spirit." But she wasn’t the only music star on hand. Chance the Rapper, Meghan Trainor, Normani and many others were shining for the cameras. Oh, there was an impromptu Destiny’s Child reunion!
