NBC’s Songland was new Tuesday night, and Aloe Blacc took some time to shine, with some help from aspiring songwriter Kyle Williams.

In the sixth episode, Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch stopped by to find the right song for the new action flick, part of the Fast & Furious franchise.

Williams impressed with "Getting Started (Hobbs & Shaw)," which Blacc and Leitch ultimately selected. “This is a great collaboration. This is the first time I’ve worked with and discovered a songwriter in this way," Blacc said.

Working his studio magic on the song is Ryan Tedder, who "has years of hits under his name which really qualifies him as the producer for this song," the singer added.

The format of the new songwriting contest sees four unknown songwriters pitch and perform their original songs to one superstar recording artist and a panel of producers. By the end of each episode, the featured recording artist will choose one song to record and release through their label that same night.

Blacc said "Getting Started” was the perfect fit. “This is one of those songs that can motivate you to get started,” he explained.

The f-produced series premiered late May and has a global recordings and publishing partnership with BMG.
