It's easy to think of a rapper's successful lifestyle as one that involves designer clothing, mansions, partying and private jets. However, NF's new video for "When I Grow Up" paints a different picture.

The reflective vignette, released on Thursday (June 27), begins with a group of kids dreaming of what they'd like to pursue as adults, choosing careers like a ballet teacher or a police officer. Toddler NF, naturally, reveals he wants to become a rapper.

The scene then flashes forward to his back-to-back day jobs working as a garbage disposal man and at a fast food restaurant. "I can tell you're already thinkin' I will never succeed/But I'm okay with it, I admit the lyrics are weak/I've been workin' on 'em, I'll be good eventually/I understand you gotta crawl before you get to your feet/But I been running for a while, they ain't ready for me," he raps in the explosive first verse.

Once he clocks out from his job, NF takes the stage in front of a sold out theater crowd, rapping and living his dream. It's a reflection of the work that goes into a budding career, that multimillion dollars don't happen overnight, and that everything isn't as it seems.
