Mavis Staples stopped by CBS This Morning on Saturday (June 15) to perform three songs from her latest album, the Ben Harper-produced We Get By.

The legendary singer, who turns 80 next month, performed the album's title track as well as "Change" and "Stronger" and sat with an interview with host Anthony Mason at the Apollo Theater as part of the show's "Saturday Sessions" series. She expressed gratitude for her late-career success. "Isn't that amazing? At 80. I'm supposed to be going on in, but I'm coming on out," she said with a laugh.

"I've gone from eight to 80," she told Mason. "I started singing when I was eight years old, and I'm still rolling." She also revealed her love of boxing to the host, showing off her pink boxing gloves and telling him, "I'm 80 years old, but I'm fire."

Staples also insisted that she has no plans to slow down or retire any time soon. "I'm having too much fun," she said.
