OneRepublic has returned with their new single "Rescue Me," released Friday (May 17).

"Rescue Me" was written and produced by Ryan Tedder and Brent Kutzle, and co-produced by Tyler Spry. "I know life took us far away/ But I still dream 'bout the good old days/ When we took care of each other/ We were livin' for each other," Tedder sings on the chorus.

The upbeat single was released alongside a music video, filmed in Silverton, Oregon and featuring Cody Bingham of Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.

“'Rescue Me' was written very quickly, 10 minutes or less almost a stream of consciousness," Tedder said in a release. "It was me telling Brent, our bass player and cellist, ‘I wanna write a song with a concept I had started a few years ago (called “Rescue Me”)’. He started playing this lonely sounding guitar riff and the first thing out of my mouth was the chorus as it is now. The concept: In every friendship there’s a give and take, but sometimes you have to wonder if the love you give is the love you’ll get.”

The band previously revealed the news on Twitter alongside a clip of a boy facing a massive waterfall. The tune comes fresh off the "Bones" collaboration with Galantis, which dropped back in January. OneRepublic's last album was 2016's Oh My My.

The group has a number of summer performances coming up across North America, performing at Bottlerock Napa on May 24 before heading up to Niagara Falls' Fallsview Casino on July 25 and 26. OneRepublic will then take on Red Rocks Amphiteatre on August 26.
