Hitting the 10-year mark as a band seems like a good time for the Liza Colby Sound to release its first full-length album, Object To Impossible Destination -- whose video for the track "Eye on You" is premiering exclusively below.

The hard-rocking group has been a mainstay in Manhattan's East Village since December of 2009 and has won a particularly enthusiastic audience in Europe with its three EPs and full-throttle live shows. That's why Colby and company eschewed a concept video in favor of a performance track, which the quintet -- including new guitarist Jay Shepard -- filmed shortly after returning from a Spanish tour where it previewed the song during a 17-show/20-day run.

"One of my favorite things in the world is to write a new song and then take it on the road and play it every night and bring it to life," Colby tells Billboard. "That video, I felt, was such an awesome representation of how we play the song, who the song is, what the song's about. That was one of those songs that you go into the rehearsal space, blink and the song is done, just like that, classic. So I thought (the video) was a great opportunity to show people what this band's about and what we can do."

Object To Impossible Destination, which follows three previous Liza Colby Sound EPs, is due out July 19. It features two songs, "Oh Baby" and "Creep On," co-written with late founding guitarist Adam Roth, and it was recorded mostly at former guitarist Tom McCaffery's home studio, with another couple of songs done at Flux Studios in the East Village. "This is by far my favorite record that we've done sonically," Colby says. "This is the first record where I feel like we were getting the sound we wanted and the feel we wanted. It's a really nice combination of where we come from -- late '60s/early '70s rock feel -- but now with a more current sound, so you feel, like, Tame Impala, Queens of the Stone Age. It's just a more current sound -- that's what I'm really excited about."

Leading up to Object To Impossible Destination's release, Colby will also be touring Europe as part of New York's Brass Against, while the Sound will play a release show July 18 in New York and head back to Europe in October. The group is also planning to start working on its next album in December, while Colby is also building an acting resume with a recent appearance in Russian Doll and another in the upcoming Leave Not One Alive. "I just really love doing creative stuff," Colby says. "This kind of random acting thing came out of nowhere. I was so stoked to be part of (Russian Doll) and be part of this heavy-hitting cast full of women, backed by women, that put an amazing spotlight on the East Village. I have so much more to learn, but it's a nice world to be getting into and I want to do more of it."
