The blood and guts on-screen was reflected in the arrangement of Reputation, Swift insists, with half the LP featuring songs about vengeance, the other reflecting themes of love and searching for “something sacred throughout all the battle cries.”
Swift added, “These songs were half based on what I was going through, but seeing them through a Game of Thrones filter.” Single release “Look What You Made Me Do” is “literally Arya Stark’s kill list,” EW quotes Swift as saying, and “King of My Heart’ isn’t a sly nod to George R. R. Martin’s Night King, but a tip of the hat to Khal Drogo and Daenerys. “It’s even got this post-hook of drums — I wanted them to sound like Dothraki drums," she explained.
The GoT-Reputation crossover didn’t end there. Swift says she wrote “I Did Something Bad” after Arya and Sansa conspired to kill the devious Littlefinger. That and “Look What You Made Me Do,” she continued, “are very Cersei vibes, too. Daenerys as well.”
Swift, who was spotted deep in conversation with Daenerys Targaryen actor Emilia Clarke at the recent Time 100 gala, shared her predictions on who will win the Iron Throne. “Daenerys, Arya, or Sansa,” she commented. “But if I’m being realistic, I think Sansa has the skill set and the ability to delegate and put on a brave face but a stoic demeanor.”
Sadly, she didn’t give her thoughts on her good pal Ed Sheeran’s much-maligned cameo in series seven. Though it’s safe to assume she’s sweating over the outcome of the final two GoT episodes, like the rest of us.
