The followup to last year's All Within My Hands Day of Service will take place on May 22.

Metallica fans have a chance to give back on May 22, when the band will host their second annual All Within My Hands Day of Service.

After more than 1,000 volunteers signed up last year, the band is encouraging their faithful across the U.S. to come out again to volunteer for a day at food banks in communities that have supported the group on the North American dates of their now nearly three-year WorldWired Tour.

Working with Feeding America, the Bay Area metal legends have contributed to local partners in the cities they hit on their tour and on Tuesday (April 9) they put out the call again for fans to suit up to fight hunger in their own backyards. According to a statement, more than 50 food banks will participate in this year's effort -- double the amount from last year -- with each registered volunteer receiving a commemorative All Within My Hands t-shirt.

Slots are limited, so the band is encouraging volunteers to register here or here. No walk-ins will be accepted. If you don't live near one of the participating foodbanks or aren't available on May 22, click here to see how you can contribute.

Metallica announced the formation of All Within My Hands in February 2017 in order to give back to the people who'd supported them over the years by donating to a variety of charities, including local food banks and, in 2018, launching the Metallica Scholars initiative to support workforce education.
