'The Voice' Contestant Selkii Grabs the Attention of Adam Levine & Blake Shelton With Macy Gray 'I Try' Cover: Exclusive

Selkii on "The Voice"

Blind auditions are currently underway on NBC's The Voice, and on Monday night's (Mar. 11) upcoming episode, South African Selkii pursues her music career.

The 31-year-old songstress took the stage to perform Macy Gray's hit "I Try," musing with smokey and calming vocals. She immediately caught the attention of judge Adam Levine, followed by Blake Shelton at the very end, and the two turned their chairs to persuade Selkii to join their teams.

Levine played the angle of his wife Behati Prinsloo, who was born in South Africa but grew up in the bordering country of Namibia. "My wife will kill me if I don’t get you on my team," he said.

"You know I have never been to South Africa. I'd like to imagine that over there, you’re country because I’m looking at you with the hat and acoustic guitar," Shelton chimed in, before throwing a characteristic jab at his Maroon 5 pal. "I’ve been doing this show for a long time and so has Adam. The only difference is I have won twice as many times."

Check out Billboard's exclusive clip below, and tune in to The Voice to find out who Selkii picks as her coach on Mar. 11 at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
