Black History Inspirations: Buddy Shares a Playlist of the Artists & Songs That Celebrate Cultural Rebellion

Dan Regan

As part of Billboard's Black History Month celebration, we've asked Black artists spanning all genres to compile their own unique playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. Each song they've chose represents their love for the culture across the diaspora -- from childhood favorites to songs that make them feel free. Today, Buddy shares his soundtrack.

I personally celebrate Black history year round. But February is an essential time that I get to reflect on the African-Americans that have inspired me to be the artist I am today. This month I’m on the road performing my song "Black," which highlights some of our revolutionary leaders. I remind the crowd every night exactly what February means to me as a Black man. I pray to see America undivided, a country where everyone is treated as equals and can claim their birthright freely and without oppression. And ay, where the hell our 40 acres at!?

The deluxe version of Buddy's debut album Harlan & Alondra is now available with four new previously unreleased songs, including "Cubicle" featuring 03 Greedo. Listen to his playlist below, and get more information on Buddy's tour alongside Vince Staples and JPEGMAFIA here.
