Cee Lo Green is apologizing for a since-deleted tweet defending his pal Big Boi before his Super Bowl performance.

"@BigBoi yo big we riding wit you fam DO THAT SHIT! F**k these so called protesters you just got 100m worth of press. I'll kill for you," the tweet read, sparking serious backlash from people criticizing the singers' insensitivity toward Colin Kaepernick supporters who stood in solidarity against racial injustice.

Cee Lo took to Twitter on Monday (Feb. 4) to clarify and apologize for the "misunderstanding" surrounding his original statement. "I posted yesterday, excited in the heat of the moment and spirit of triumph in support of my fellow Atlantan, teammate and brother Big Boi," he wrote. "My post was speaking exclusively to him and about those who were opposed to him performing. I would NEVER disrespect or devalue the stance or the severity of why it has been a call to arms as far as our living situation here in America."

When asked by TMZ if he would use the same words in his original tweet if given the opportunity to do it all over again, Cee Lo responded, "No, I wouldn't. I would have just chosen my words a lot more carefully. I wouldn't have done it that way...To anyone that I offended, I sincerely apologize, I truly do."
