The government shutdown ended on Friday (Jan. 25), with much thanks to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called for an end to the month-long shutdown, suggesting in a letter to the president last week that he reschedule his State of the Union address in the House Chamber or deliver it in writing.

The deal temporarily reopens the government for three weeks for conference committee to discuss border security measures, but not a wall as Trump wanted. Twitter rejoiced at the news, praising Pelosi for her condemnation of the president.

Cardi B also chimed in, responding to a tweet that said the Speaker of the House "dog walked" Trump, a reference to the threat the rapper made to conservative commentator Tomi Lahren. "Basically," Cardi responded.

She followed up in response to Stephen Colberts petition to have the rapper do the State of the Union address rebuttal for the Democrats. "why not," she replied. "I get straight to the point. Government shutdown over."
