Miley Cyrus visits the SiriusXM Studios on Dec. 12, 2018 in New York City.

War is over, if you want it. That's the message from Miley Cyrus, who shared the surprise midnight release "War Is Over (Happy Xmas),” a special collaboration with producer Mark Ronson and Sean Ono Lennon, son of the song's creators John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

The track is both a call for peace and a Christmas classic, and Cyrus' version arrives as two of hip-hop's biggest names, Kanye West and Drake, fight an ugly battle on social media. Ariana Grande used her own Twitter to call for a truce, preach kindness, and give a shout out to Miley. The favor was returned when Miley paraphrased Ari's latest hit. "Didn’t they hear the news ?! War IS over ! Thank you , next!," she tweeted.

In an earlier interview with Jimmy Fallon, Miley discussed the recording process. Sean’s voice is “just so special and I think more than just inheriting the voice or the way he looks or whatever, it’s about the magic he has,” she said. “I think that’s what he’s inherited more than anything. It’s this radiant magic.”

Ronson also worked on Miley’s recent single, “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart,” and she confirmed she’d team up once again with Mike Will Made-It for her next album, alongside Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow. A portion of the proceeds from song downloads will go to Spirit Foundation, the charity founded by Yoko Ono and John Lennon.
