Sting, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons are among the musicians featured on the fourth season of the artist-interview series Speakeasy.

The series, which is distributed by American Public Television to PBS and the World Channel, launches Jan. 7 with an hour-long conversation between Sting and Shaggy, whose joint album 44/876 is up for a Grammy Award for best reggae album. Other pairings include Michael McDonald with record producer Russ Titelman, Lenny Kravitz with Sean Lennon and Lynyrd Skynyrd with journalist Rob Tannenbaum.

In the season teaser below, Shaggy and Sting joke about the reaction to their making music together, and in the most amusing moment, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Johnny Van Zant admits that he went to a Cher concert with his wife and he yelled for her to play “Freebird.”

“In our fourth season of Speakeasy we are really defining what sets this series apart,” said Don Maggi, executive producer.  “Sting and Shaggy let loose like they couldn’t do on any other tour interview … Joe Elliott wanting to share his stories after he interviewed Ian Hunter in season two … it’s as much fun for the artists to participate in our format as it is for our viewers to sit in on that conversation.”

The shows will also live on SpeakeasyTalks.com.
