Tunefind's Top TV/Film Syncs Of 2018: 'Grey's Anatomy' Is Top Show, Ruelle Nabs Top Artist

Tunefind, a music discovery website that partners with Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter each month to help present the Top TV Songs list (ranking songs that appear in TV shows each month using a combination of multiple metrics from Tunefind, Shazam and Nielsen Music), has revealed its 2018 year-end data, ranking the top songs, shows, movies and more based on traffic and interaction on the Tunefind website.

For the second year in a row, no TV show had a bigger hand in the world of music than Grey's Anatomy. The ABC drama leads Tunefind's year-end TV/film syncs list yet again in 2018, after first doing so with the 2017 ranking

That likely comes as little surprise to anyone who's been at least somewhat aware of the show since its 2005 premiere; Grey's Anatomy, which kicked off its 15th season this fall, has long been a hotbed for music discovery -- and 2018 was no different, with the show already featuring music from artists such as Sleeping At Last, Bishop Briggs and Ruelle in the latest season alone.

That being said, the 2017 ranking posited the prediction that The CW's Riverdale, then its top new show of the year and the sixth-best on the all-shows list, could eventually challenge Grey's Anatomy for the overall top spot in the future. And while it didn't quite get there in 2018, the teen drama nonetheless rises four spots to take the No. 2 spot on the top shows list.

Not a bad year for music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas, who serves that role on both Grey's Anatomy and Riverdale. In all, shows on which Patsavas works take up four of the top 10 on the all-shows list, with Lucifer (co-supervised with Justin Kamps) and Supernatural reaching Nos. 5 and 7, respectively.

Meanwhile, Riverdale's standing as the hottest new thing in town is taken in 2018 by The Good DoctorGrey's Anatomy's fellow ABC medical drama, thanks to supervision from Libby Umstead in season one and Ann Kline in the recently premiered season two. The show comes out ahead of Netflix series The End of the F**king World.

Top song honors goes to The Seige's "Arise," featured in the fourth episode of the first season of Marvel's Cloak & Dagger on Freeform, followed by Nilu's "Are You with Me," from Grey's Anatomy's 10th episode of its 14th season. And as for the biggest artist on TV in 2018, an honor that went to Kaleo in 2017, it's Ruelle, already a known artist on television for her role singing the theme songs of Shadowhunters and The Shannara Chronicles; the singer also popped up on Grey's AnatomyFamous in Love, Killjoys and more in 2018 alone. She was No. 2 on the 2017 tally.
