Welcome to #TBT Mixtape, Billboard's series that showcases artists' very own throwback-themed playlists exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. The curated set features the artists' favorite tracks from their youth and childhood.

This week's spin comes from Cautious Clay. The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist (born Josh Karpeh) has enjoyed a swift rise over the past year, including the release of two acclaimed EPs, Resonance and Blood TypeThe hype earned him a feature on AlunaGeorge's recent Champagne Eyes EP cut "Superior Emotion" earlier this year, as well as a support slot on tour with Gallant. The newcomer also earned a co-sign from NPR, with a coveted performance slot for their Tiny Desk Concert series this October.

The fast rising upstart just capped his mammoth 2018 with the release of another new single "Reasons" this week (Dec. 4), co-written alongside indie heavyweight Tobias Jesso Jr. (Adele, Florence & The Machine) and producer Hudson Mohawke.

To fete his milestone year, Clay today looks back with this week's #TBT Mixtape, comprised of music that has been "inspiring him lately -- some old, some new." The eclectic set includes tracks from Kali Uchis, Mariah Carey, Joni Mitchell, Khalid and more.
