Miley Cyrus Talks About the 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart' Lyric That Foreshadowed Malibu House Fire
Miley Cyrus dropped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest, where she discussed the devastating wildfire that burned down her and Liam Hemsworth's Malibu home last month--from which she's trying to experience "post-traumatic growth."
Her recent collab with Mark Ronson, "Nothing Break Likes a Heart" features lyrics about a burning home, but the songstress penned the tune way before the tragedy.
"We've been working for the past year and a half on the next record," she said. "So I didn't know the best way to come out of this blackout period but it's actually really crazy because I wrote this song with Mark in May before we actually lost our Malibu house."
"One of the lyrics is ‘This burning house / There's nothing left / It's smoking and we both know it'… It was like this strange premonition so the timing just worked out," she continued.
Hemsworth took to Instagram at the time of the news to share the remains of the couple's home. All that remained were massive concrete letters that spelled out "LOVE." See below.
It’s been a heartbreaking few days. This is what’s left of my house. Love. Many people in Malibu and surrounding areas in California have lost their homes also and my heart goes out to everyone who was affected by these fires. I spent the day in Malibu yesterday and it was amazing to see the community pulling together to help each other out in any way they can. Malibu is a strong community and this event is only going to make it stronger. Thankful for the all the great local guys that helped keep smaller fires out around my property. I love u guys. I love you Malibu. Thank you to all the hero firefighters around California. It’s going to be a journey to rebuild. Stay strong all. To help/donate visit @malibufoundation and @happyhippiefdn
