Vevo DSCVR begins the second week of its 2019 Artists To Watch series -- which already includes the likes of YBN Crew, Elley Duhé and Flohio -- on Monday (Dec. 3) with exclusive, in-house performances by Lauren Sanderson and Hex.

The first performance comes from Fort Wayne, Ind. native Sanderson, who has created her own lane in pop on the strength of her ambition. Sanderson's self-made image has been cemented by a completely D.I.Y. approach that saw her booking shows, selling merch directly and engaging and expanding her audience in a very hands-on manner before she moved to Los Angeles and nabbed a record deal with Epic in less than a year.

In a prepared statement, Vevo Head of Content, Programming & Marketing JP Evangelista tells Billboard, “Our list would not have been complete without Lauren Sanderson. With influences ranging from ska to hip-hop, dance to pop, Lauren Sanderson proves her pivot from YouTube personality to pop singer is the real deal for 2019.”

On the U.K. side, Vevo brings in rapper-crooner Hex from Nottingham. Though the 21-year-old warrants comparisons to Post Malone with a rap-singing style that blends pop with hip-hop production, Hex cloaks murkier lyrical content in his club-ready bangers. He stands as a representative of the new age of hip-hop, in which darker, more personal themes don’t necessarily exclude an artist from mainstream airplay.

“Hex defies convention and really blends genres together answering only to himself,” Vevo Senior Manager of Music and Talent Carl Young tells Billboard. “His releases demand attention both in and out of the clubs, intriguing listeners with his mixtures of dark topics over captivating beats. We are expecting big things for him in 2019.”
