Snoop Dogg Accepts Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame, Gives Himself a Shout-Out: Watch
Snoop was on hand for the presentation at El Capitan Theater, which was taped for Jimmy Kimmel Live! and webcast on YouTube.
During his acceptance speech, the 47-year-old hip-hop star saved special praise for the source of his inspiration and energy over a decades-long career…himself. "I want to thank me for believing in me, I want to thank me for doing all this hard work," he said. "I wanna thank me for having no days off. I wanna thank me for never quitting. I wanna thank me for always been a giver and trying to give more than I receive. I want to thank me for trying to do more right than wrong. I want to thank me for just being me at all times.”
Kimmel joined legendary producers Quincy Jones, Dr. Dre and Leron Gubler, president & CEO of the Hollywood Chamber, in unveiling the star, while the likes of 2 Chainz, BattleCat, Big Boy, George Lopez, Jeannie Buss, Jeezy, Pharrell Williams, T.I.,Ty Dolla $ign, Warren G and others were in attendance.
The Long Beach native's marker is dedicated in the category of “Recording" and is the 2,651st to grace the famed sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard.
“Snoop Dogg is one of those people who can do anything. He raps, he acts, he hosts a television show, he cooks, and helps community kids with his philanthropic work,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “He is a man of the ages and we welcome him to our Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
It’s been another big year for Snoop, who is also celebrating the 25th anniversary of his debut studio album, Doggy Style, which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart following its release in November 1993. In October, Snoop published his first cookbook, From Crook to Cook, in which he promised to share “snacks to satisfy those munchies,” alongside meals and drinks recipes.
