A Video Comparing Rami Malek's Live Aid Performance to Freddie Mercury's Is Insanely Precise: Watch
A video has surfaced on the Internet of Rami Malek’s portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody side-by-side with the singer’s real 1985 Live Aid performance, and the accuracy is insane.
The clip, uploaded by a user called @ThisGameIsEasy, shows Malek mimicing the icon’s characteristic movements down to the beat, including air punches and dynamic strides.
“[Freddie] was a long-distance runner at school and a boxer,” Malek’s movement coach for the film, Polly Bennett, recently told Billboard. “This gives us a reason why Freddie ran across the stage and punched the air, and [allows me to explain to] Rami: ‘This is why that character moves the way that he does.’ It’s interesting that Freddie only did solo sports, rather than football or rugby or any sort of team sport. In itself, that creates a physical attitude.”
