Justin Bieber has added his voice to the dozens of high-profile celebrities urging their fans to vote in the upcoming U.S. midterm elections on Nov. 6.

"Living in the US I see how this country affects not only people here but all around the world," Bieber wrote on Twitter. "There are so many things people need help with that I hope all of you who can get out and Vote and make your voices heard," adding with a smiley face emoticon: "I would if I could."

As a Canadian citizen, Bieber is unable to participate in the American election process. This year's elections will be on Nov. 6 and will influence many key issues in a particularly contentious political climate. The midterm elections are the most significant opportunity the average citizen has to participate in the political process before the next presidential election in 2020.

In the lead-up to the elections, Billboard has been asking stars to complete the phrase "I'm voting because..." to share the diverse perspectives and motivations of members of the music industry.
