The Finn Wolfhard-led band also records a new version of "Wasting Time" at Spotify's New York studios.

Canadian indie-rock band Calpurnia showcased their talents with the release of two new Spotify singles, including a cover of Weezer's "Say It Ain't So."

The teenage band formed in November of last year, with their first release being a cover of "Wanted You" by Twin Peaks. The four-member ensemble includes well-known Stranger Things and It actor Finn Wolfhard on vocals and guitar, as well as Jack Anderson on bass, Malcolm Craig on drums and Ayla Tesler-Mabe as lead guitarist. Even though their average age is only 16, their biggest influences include Nirvana, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Weezer.

The group headed to Spotify's New York studios to record their single "Wasting Time" and cover Weezer's "Say It Ain't So." Calpurnia kicks off the recording with the surf-rock vibe of "Wasting Time," with quick and flawless guitar riffs accompanied by Wolfhard's edgy vocals. The band then cuts to a half-time beat to show off an impressive guitar solo by the wildly talented Tesler-Mabe before returning to the high-energy groove.

For their second song, the group tackles Weezer's hit "Say It Ain't So," beginning with Wolfhard and Tesler-Mabe's smooth harmonies and the guitar matching the offbeat strum of the original song. It's a slow build in the energy, which Wolfhard fantastically unleashes with his vocals during the chorus.

The group recently announced they will be going on a U.K. tour starting in November. In the meantime, get a taste of the young band's fresh energy and check out the new recordings below:
