New Yorkers are heading to the polls Thursday (Sept. 13) to vote for their next Democratic candidate for governor. Up against current incumbent Andrew Cuomo is Cynthia Nixon, who is advocating for a more progressive New York. A number of celebrities have expressed their support for the Sex and The City star, the most recent being Cardi B.

The rapper took to Instagram to encourage her home state to vote. She posted a photo of Nixon smiling alongside Jumaane Williams, who is running for lieutenant governor. Nixon, whose campaign focuses are rent control, subway renewal, legalization of marijuana and LGBTQ rights, responded to Cardi by reminding voters that polls close at 9 p.m.

One day earlier, Nicki Minaj seemed to disagree with Cardi by endorsing Cuomo on Twitter. The opposing views follows a physical altercation between the rappers at a New York Fashion Week party.
